About Tour

A sonic journey through atmospheric soundscapes, contrasting harp lines and FX heavy vocals.

‘Asrar’ is the Arabic word for secrets and mysteries. Intrigue and wonder are the emotions that aim to be explored and derived from this exclusive performance at Magnetic Fields Festival, with Nush Lewis on harps, keys and vocals, and Riatsu on the Maschine audio workstation, samples and electronic soundscapes. A sonic journey through atmospheric soundscapes, contrasting harp lines and FX heavy vocals. “Travel with us behind silent doors, thoughts and dreams, all to come together in the form of a rose placed in the palm of your hand.” – Riatsu X Nush

Nush Lewis is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer-songwriter based in Mumbai, India. Having trained in the piano in her childhood and since then extensively in the harp, she has completed her performance course in the harp from one the finest institutes in the country, the KM Conservatory, Chennai. With moody, pensive compositions, combined with a unique production ethos, her musicality can best be described as minimal acoustic, with intricate melodic lines set upon ephemeral soundscapes. Having multiple performance modules, as a solo act, band, and as part of multiple collaborative efforts, her performances showcase these encapsulating creations. An avid advocate for music and the arts, in 2017, Nush also started her own independent arts education company, OffSet to directly support arts education and creative development with support from their respective industries.

Riatsu is (the recording name of) Shadaab Kadri, an ambient electronic musician from Mumbai, India. As a branched progression from contributing to synth portions in his drone metal band Pangea, Riatsu is the space for exploration of soundtrack music and field recording curiosities. From background scores for your visual imagination to a sea of sound that stretches from ambient techno to dark ambient. After getting his interest piqued in composing ambient pieces during his fellowship at Musicians’ Institute, California, Shadaab has created scores and jingles for various visual features in the short format. Part of the Bombay independent music circuit since over a decade, Shadaab has assumed multi-fold roles associated with it: from working on television shows and digital content promoting homegrown talent, to being an artist manager, a session/tour musician, managing tours for international bands, providing support and input to music festivals and music venues, to creating monthly gig properties and conceptualising and executing India’s first synthesizer festival (Synthfest), Shadaab has also been an active part of sustaining and nourishing the framework and the organisational aspect of the music platforms in India.

‘Asrar’ is one of the exclusive festival commissions by Magnetic Fields Festival 2019.
